I look
Through the looking glass,
and see, see my otherworld
Reflecting
Ticking clocks and
hallways of mirrored doors
that twist and turn
as I walk
bleeding ink and color
Cracking with my counterparts,
Reflecting
Growing dim and deprived of
Sleep, tint and tone, the light
in your eyes
While all the kings’ horses,
All the kings’ men
Are a myth
Out eating egg McMuffins
And I’m just Reflecting,
Just looking.

Author's Comments

So in school we a currently studying poetry. More specifically my group and I are studying Nordic poetry and the author I’ve been reading Pia Juul writes modern poetry. The majority of the time she writes about how confusing and contradictory love can be. and how most of the time that has lead to heartache for her. So this assignment was meant to emulate her styles and themes.

true, you have a point. But it is also how you present poetry which makes an impact...and on which I congradulate you.

This is a wonderful piece. The appearance of school through the eyes of a poet.

I don't know about you, but I didn't realize just how dreary my college campus looked until I had to write details about it and describe it. The only thing missing was rain!

Well anyway, critique. I really don't have any. I haven't checked out your gallery yet so I don't know how often you write poetry. But the way to be a writer is to just write. Keep up the good work!
